I am currently exploring sculptural themes around croton leaves/kala lif (Codiaeum variegatum). These leaves are often used in local custom and ceremonies in the form of 'salusalu' and other body adornment.
I have also started drawing again, with an emphasis on pencil portraits of local Ni-Vanuatu.

Mount-Cargill
ON THE SLOPES OF MT. CARGILL, 2010

I am a Swiss/New Zealand artist, specializing in printmaking. In 1992 I graduated from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art with a DFA (honours). Part of my art practice includes making artists books and occasionally I teach printmaking and bookbinding classes. I have also been commissioned to illustrate books and brochures.  For most of my adult life I have worked part-time in libraries, and bookshops from Auckland to Zϋrich. My prints and artists books have been exhibited in New Zealand and internationally.

In 2008 and 2009 I was based in Port Vila, Vanuatu — working as an Art Programme Advisor for Correctional Services at the Stade Prison in Port Vila, through Volunteer Service Abroad, NZ. I also volunteered at the Vanuatu Cultural Centre (National Library and National Museum) and at Olwi School in Blacksands, Port Vila.
